The South Asian Queer + Trans Collective (SAQTC) is a grassroots organization that aims to create nurturing spaces where LGBTQ+ South Asians and Indo-Caribbeans can build friendships.
Friendship is the key to liberation and revolution.
Join us for a writing workshop! We will be hosting monthly writing workshops to create a safe space centering SA and Indo-Caribbean narratives that uplifts their voices and stories. We plan to use reflective writing and actively listening to one another as tools to foster connections and make space for uncomfortable and necessary conversations with each other.⠀
What role can South Asian men play in western civil rights movements? What is the history of our involvement and our non-involvement in these movements?
In this conversation, we’ll begin to find answers to these questions by first examining the impact colonization has had on our own expressions and perceptions of masculinity.
Quarantine has greatly impacted the LGBTQ+ community. We hope that this event will provide a space for folks to connect and creatively express themselves.
A panel and gathering of South Asian and Indo- Caribbean LGBTQ+ speakers. We had an array of speakers talk about how they chased after their dreams and continues to be unapologetically authentic. They all came from different backgrounds and careers such as community organizers, a musician, activists, artists, and a comedian. We were being intentional about not making sure to tokenize a specific identity, whether it be gender identity, sexuality or ethnicity. We believe it’s vital to curate a homogeneous space where everyone’s identity reflects onto each other’s identities.
Stressed about work, college, and LITERALLY capitalism? Join us or a cozy, wholesome night and destress yourself by watching the iconic Desi lesbian movie, Signature Move!
